IDP C3: Students with Additional Needs (SwAN) classes for the 2nd semester

The CSA-Guidance Desk and the Human Resource Development would like to invite and encourage all faculty members, student and employee mentors, and academic non-teaching staff who have direct dealings with students to enroll in the Students with Additional Needs (SwAN) Series to be offered this second semester. The SwAN orientation was held last October 2021.

As part of IDP Cycle 3, the SwAN Series aims to orient and equip attendees with information and knowledge in handling the challenges more effectively when managing students with additional needs. The following modules will be covered by SwAN on the following dates:

January 26 (Module 3): Learning, Evaluation, and Accommodation
This module will discuss the principles of educational assessment and evaluation to help teachers craft activities and provide accommodations without lowering academic standards.

February 9 (Module 4): Neurodevelopmental and Mood Conditions and the Classroom After learning principles of educational assessment and evaluation, teachers will be exposed to its application. This session will focus on the identification and management of symptoms of persistent and transient conditions, especially the ones that usually affect academic performance and/or may lead to a crisis situation.

February 23 (Module 5): Referral and Crisis Management
This module will focus on identifying, responding, and supporting at-risk students in virtual settings. Likewise, protocols for referral and crisis management will be discussed in order for the participants to be trained in crisis situations.

Each session will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm via Google Meet.

Registration for SwAN will run until January 25 (Tuesday). To enroll, please click here. Also, to further evaluate needs and the corresponding core elements for each module, we would like to ask those who will enroll to answer the SwAN Needs Assessment Survey here (please disregard if you have already accomplished the survey in the registration form).
