CSA hosts parent talk on communicating with teens

The Center for Student Affairs, through the Office of Guidance and Counseling (OGC), successfully conducted a mental health talk for parents titled “Holding Space: Keeping Conversations Open with Your Teens” on March 7, 2026, at the Dizon Auditorium.

The event brought together parents and guardians of UA&P students in a meaningful learning session and open forum focused on understanding today’s Generation Z adolescents and strengthening parent-teen communication. The talk aimed to equip parents with practical strategies to navigate difficult conversations and foster more open, respectful, and supportive relationships with their children.

The session was led by Dr. Jerry J. Jurisprudencia, a clinical psychologist and guidance counselor from Miriam College, and Ms. Nikki Jean V. Jurisprudencia, a women & children rights advocate and researcher at NoBox Philippines. They shared their expertise in psychology, education, and family dynamics. Through their discussion, they highlighted the evolving digital landscape, the unique communication styles of today’s youth, and the importance of creating safe and supportive spaces for dialogue at home.

Participants engaged actively during the open forum, where parents raised questions and shared experiences related to communication challenges and parenting in the modern context. The exchange of insights further enriched the session, making it both informative and relatable.

The CSA-OGC continues to support the holistic well-being of students by engaging not only learners but also their families and support systems through relevant and timely programs.
