The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) formally installed its fifth president, Atty. John Philip R. Yeung, on August 20, 2025, in a solemn ceremony held at 10:00 am at the Li Seng Giap Auditorium. The installation marked a new chapter in the institution’s leadership, centered on the core mission of forming men and women with love for wisdom, solidarity, and excellence.

Outgoing UA&P President Dr. Winston Conrad B. Padojinog delivered a message of gratitude and hope as he officially handed over the reins of leadership. The introduction of the incoming president was made by Dr. Ulpiano “Ulan” P. Sarmiento III of San Beda Alabang - School of Law, where Atty. Yeung acquired his Juris Doctor degree. Ambassador Jose L. In his investiture address, Atty. Yeung articulated his vision for the university with clarity and conviction:

“The yardstick with which UA&P will measure its success is not in the number of students, not the number of buildings, not the number of courses... but whether we are truly forming the next generation to make a positive impact in society.”

Atty. Yeung is a proud UA&P alumnus, graduating in 2005 with a degree in Humanities and a Professional Certificate in Political Economy. He went on to earn his Master’s in Entrepreneurship and Juris Doctor degree. His wide-ranging experience includes running his family’s pharmaceutical business, establishing ventures in real estate, finance, IT, and food service, and founding Yeung Law Office, a property litigation firm committed to ethical practice.

In 2023, he was elected barangay councilor of Ayala Alabang, where he helped craft policies to improve community safety and well-being. As a father of six and a passionate family advocate, he also leads parenting programs through Educhild Foundation. His professional and personal life reflect his commitment to public service, integrity, and formation.

Atty. Yeung teaches at both San Beda College-Alabang and the UA&P Institute of Law, covering subjects such as Constitutional Law and Property Law. He previously taught entrepreneurial marketing and Media Law at UA&P’s School of Media and Marketing, where he began his teaching journey in 2009.

Echoing the university’s foundational values, he reiterated that UA&P is not merely an academic institution, but “a beacon of integral education, a home where knowledge and character are formed together.” He stressed the importance of forming individuals who are not only professionally competent, but “rooted in truth, faithful in spirit, and generous in service.”

Among the guests were Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Brgy. San Antonio Captain Raymond Lising (3rd & 4th from left, foreground).

He also shared a quote from a 1995 letter by Bishop Javier Echavarria to UA&P’s first president, Dr. Jesus P. Estanislao, who was also present in the installation:

“The task that lies before you is truly enormous… All of you have the opportunity of participating courageously—through teaching and research of the highest quality—in the great debates of our time, to which the Christian message has a decisive contribution to make.”

The new president closed his speech by humbly entrusting the university’s future to divine providence:

“This university is not ours. It is God’s. And it is God’s work.”

As UA&P embarks on this new chapter under Atty. Yeung’s leadership, the community anticipates continued growth in academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement, all while safeguarding the university’s Catholic identity.
