CAS 34th Foundation Anniversary

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) will mark its 34th Foundation Anniversary on March 19 (Sunday). The theme of this year’s celebration is "CAS @ 34: Trailblazing in the Time of AI". A Eucharistic celebration will be held at the Sancta Maria Stella Orientis Oratory (SMSO) on March 22 (Wednesday) at 12:05 pm.

The patron saint of CAS is St. Joseph, the spouse of the Virgin Mary and foster father of Jesus. This year, the Solemnity of St. Joseph will be moved to March 20 (Monday) because March 19 falls on a Lenten Sunday.

In the past 150 years, nearly every pope has taken steps to further devotion to St. Joseph in the Church and to use the humble father and carpenter as a witness for the modern world. During the Year of St. Joseph (2021), Pope Francis, in his apostolic letter Patris Corde, shared his personal reflections on this extraordinary figure: “My desire to do so increased during these months of pandemic.” Noting that many people had made hidden sacrifices during the crisis in order to protect others, he added, “Each of us can discover in Joseph --- the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence -- an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble.”

St. Joseph inspires us to imitate him in a life of virtues exercised in quiet and humble ways within the humdrum of the ordinary. We continue to invoke his special protection and guidance for CAS.

CAS would like to thank everyone in the UA&P community for their support and cooperation through the years.
