The Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) Committee would like to remind everyone to observe the following general health and safety measures amid reports of respiratory and influenza-like illnesses at present:
UA&P Associate Professor Dr. Veronica E. Ramirez has completed the research on "Multi-lens rapid analysis of Philippine health laws and policies relevant to Overseas Filipinos and their families."
The research was commissioned by the International Labour Organization (ILO) through the Safe and Fair Programme in partnership with the Philippine Migrants Health Network (PMHN) of the Department of Health (DOH).
The output is a mapping of Philippine migrant health laws and policies at the national and local levels and an annotation and analysis using multiple lenses (gender, localization, alignment with international migration standards, and applicability to OFWs or their families).
The resulting database of the migrant health laws and policies, including the annotations and analysis, will be made available soon by DOH PMHN as an online living repository. It will be a regularly updated authoritative reference and information resource for migrants and OFW groups, migrant health service providers, policy-makers, researchers, advocates, and stakeholders.
Dr. Ramirez was assisted in the project by Mr. Lamberto Francisco A. Ramirez, Training Director of the Academy of Multi-Party Democracy: Project PARTICIPATE, and Atty. Joel Arzaga, Secretary of the Institute of Law of the UA&P School of Social Sciences, Law, and Governance.
Dr. Noemi Torre, dean of the UA&P School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE), visited Universidad de Cordoba (UCO), Spain, from November 20-24, 2023, as an awardee of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching Program.
The said European Commission program allows faculty members to teach for one week in a partner university. UCO is one of the European partner universities of UA&P.
Dr. Torre was welcomed by UCO officials from the Faculty of Education and Psychology. She gave a talk entitled “Math as a Science of Patterns” to bachelor's degree students in Early Childhood Education taking up Development of Mathematical Thinking.
