Dragon Race briefing for UA&P employees moved to November 22

 

The Fund Development Office and the Human Resource Management Office would like to invite all faculty and staff to the briefing on the UA&P Dragon Race, the first-ever university-wide fundraising activity for the benefit of the Phoenix Endowment Program. The briefing, which will be held both online and onsite (CAS 106), is on November 22 (Wednesday) from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Regular classes on October 16

 

Given the limited extent of the transport strike, classes will be held as usual on October 16 (Monday). However, maximum tolerance should be extended to those who may be adversely affected, and shifting online is an option that may be taken.

EBSCO Communication Source Free Trial Access

 

The University Library, in coordination with the Library Advisers Committee Core Group, would like to inform UA&P students and employees of the free trial access to EBSCO’s Communication Source, which will run until December 7, 2023.

Communication Source is a premium database that includes 948 active indexed and abstracted journals, 918 of which are peer-reviewed. It has a growing collection of 373 active global open access journals, 411 journals with searchable cited references, and 271 active, full-text non-open access journals not available in any version of Academic Search.

SLG prof appointed Visiting Scholar at UPenn's global affairs hub

 

Dr. Robin Michael Garcia, Assistant Professor at UA&P's School of Social Sciences, Law, and Governance's Political Economy Program, has been appointed as a 2023-2024 Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania's (UPenn) Perry World House.

Perry World House, a hub that draws on the expertise of the 12 schools of the University of Pennsylvania to conduct relevant research to solve the most pressing global issues, recently selected 24 leading scholars and policymakers who will be engaging in academic research, which they will be sharing to the students and faculty of UPenn.

Dr. Garcia will be in Pennsylvania for a few weeks to produce written output and engage in lectures and forums focused on the US-China-Taiwan dynamics and its implications for the Philippines. He will collaborate with Mr. Thomas Shattuck, a specialist on Taiwanese domestic and foreign affairs and the Global Order Program Manager of Perry World House.
