Mayo 18, 2024 – Matagumpay na idinaos sa University of Asia & the Pacific (UA&P) ang kauna-unahang consortium sa Pagsasalin sa pangunguna ng Kasalin Network. Dinaluhan ito ng humigit-kumulang na 200 tagasalin at tagapagtaguyod ng pagsasalin sa buong Pilipinas kasama ang Kagawaran ng Filipino ng UA&P sa pamamagitan ng hyflex. Dinala ng programa ang temang "Layag: Forum sa Pagsasalin: Pagtahak at Pagtanaw sa Pagbabalangkas ng Panukalang Batas sa Pagsasalin at Pagbubuo ng Consortium" mula 8:00 ng umaga hanggang 5:00 ng hapon.
Sa kumperensiyang ito, tinalakay ang propesyonalisasyon ng pagsasalin kasama ang iba’t ibang network ng Kasalin mula sa 18 institusyong pangwika at pagsasalin: KWF, UST Sentro sa Salin at Araling Salin, UA&P Kagawaran ng Filipino, Sentro ng Wikang Filipino ng UP Diliman (SWF-UPD), PNU Language Study Center, DLSU Salita (Sentro ng Pagsasalin, Intelektuwalisasyon, at Adbokasiya), PUP Sentro ng Pagsasalin, Ateneo de Manila-Senior High School, Biliran Province State University-SWK, Cebu Normal University - Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (CNU-SWK), Palompon Institute of Technology, Leyte; Filipinas Institute of Translation (FIT), Magbikol Kita, NCCA-NCLT, Sanggunian sa Filipino (SangFil), Propesyonal na Asosasyon ng mga Tagapagtaguyod ng Salin (PATAS), Translators Association of the Philippines (TAP), at Bangsamoro Transition Authority Translation and Interpretation Division (BTA-TID). Malugod na tinanggap ang buong consortium ni Dr. Asuncion L. Magsino, dekana ng College of Arts and Sciences.
Inilatag sa consortium ang dalawang bersiyon ng mga panukalang batas para sa propesyonalisasyon ng mga tagasalin sa bansa na ibinahagi ni G. John Enrico Torralba, hepe ng Sangay ng Salin ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF-SS), at Dr. David Michael San Juan, puno ng Pambansang Lupon sa Wika at Salin ng Pambansang Komisyon sa Kultura at Sining (NCCA-NCLT). Nagbigay naman ng reaksiyon si Atty. Nicolas Pichay, tagasalin at direktor ng Legislative Research Service ng Senado upang ganap na maisulong ang batas na ito.

A team of accreditors from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities - Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) will be on campus from May 21 to 22 (Tuesday & Wednesday) for a preliminary visit for the Bachelor of Arts in Media and Entertainment Management (AB MEM) and Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) programs, a prelude to their application for a formal visit leading to Level I accreditation status.
