Lumagda noong Hulyo 1 sa isang Memorandum ng Unawaan (MOU) ang University of Asia & the Pacific (UA&P) at ang Unibersidad ng Santo Tomas (UST) para sa opisyal na pagsisikap at pagtutulungan sa pagsusulong ng pagsasalin at intelektuwalisasyon ng wikang Filipino.
Pinangasiwaan ng Kagawaran ng Filipino at College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) ng UA&P ang makasaysayang araw na ito ng dalawang institusyon sa ALB Dining Halls.
Ang kasunduan ay nilagdaan nina Dr. Winston Conrad B. Padojinog, Pangulo ng UA&P,at Dr. Pilar I. Romero, Dekana ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon bilang kinatawan ng Rector ng UST na si Very Rev. Fr. Francis Ang, O.P. Lumagda rin bilang saksi si Dr. Maria Asuncion D. Magsino, Dekana ng CAS.
Mga dumalo mula UST at UA&P sa pangunguna nina (nakaupo, mula kaliwa): Dr. Wennie Fajilan, Pinuno ng UST-SSAS; Dr. Pilar I. Romero, Dekana ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon ng UST; Dr. Winston Conrad B. Ibinahagi ni Dr. Moreal N. Camba, Tagapangulo ng Kagawaran ng Filipino ng UA&P, sa kanyang mensahe ang paglilimbag ng isinaling klasikong Griyegong teksto nina Horace, Longinus, at Plotinus. Ito ay isa sa mga bunga ng kolaborasyon ng UA&P Kagawaran ng Filipino at UST-Sentro sa Salin at Araling Salin (UST-SSAS).
Binanggit ni Dr. Wennie Fajilan, Pinuno ng UST-SSAS, na binabalak ng kanilang sentro ang isang palihan sa pagsasalin katuwang ang UA&P.
Dumalo sa programa sina Fr. Carlos Vicente G. Estrada, University Chaplain, at Dr. Marya Svetlana T. Camacho, Vice President for Faculty Affairs ng UA&P. Dumalo rin ang mga program director at tagapangulo ng mga departamento ng CAS na sina Dr. Joachim Emilio B. Antonio, program director ng Humanities Program; Dr. Dean Edward A. Mejos, tagapangulo ng Department of Philosophy at Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs; at Ms. Elle Caparas, deputy program director ng Junior College Program.
Saksi rin sa programa ang iba pang opisyal ng UST na sina Dr. Louie Dasas, Katuwang na Dekano ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon; Dr. Zendel Taruc, tagapangulo ng Departamento ng Filipino; at Dr. Roberto Ampil, kasapi ng lupon ng tagasalin ng UST-SSAS at Pangulo ng Sanggunian sa Filipino (Sangfil). Dumalo rin si G. John Enrico Torralba, hepe ng Sangay ng Salin ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.
Ang MOU na ito ay nakasandig sa motto ng dalawang unibersidad: “Unitas”(pagkakaisa) ng UA&P at “Veritas in Caritate” (Katotohanan sa Pag-ibig) ng UST. Ang katotohanan sa pag-ibig ay bumubuo ng pagkakaisa. At ang pagkakaisa ay higit na makakamtan kung ang katotohanan ay isinasabuhay sa pag-ibig na umuugnay sa esensya ng pagsasalin.#
The School of Education and Human Development (SED) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Melissa Antoinette C. Garcia as the Directress of the Child Development and Education (CDE) Center effective June 1, 2025, replacing Dr. Lexie C. Estacio, who is now working full-time in the Executive Offices.
We would like to thank Dr. Estacio for her dedicated leadership and service to the CDE Center over the past 12 years.
We enjoin everyone to extend their support to Ms. Garcia and the CDE Center as they pursue our strategic goals in the coming academic year.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ernesto D. Grio as the Dean of the School of Education and Human Development (SED) Operations Committee effective 1 July 2025.
Dr. Grio has been serving as the Vice Dean of SED for almost five years and has been the concurrent Program Director for MA in Education majors in Educational Leadership and Adolescent Development and Education.
We thank Dr. Angelito Z. Antonio for his service in the SED OpCom for almost nine years. We continue to count on his service as faculty member and Program Director of Early Childhood Education and BS Psychology.
In the absence of other OpCom members, Dr. Grio will work closely with the ManCom-designate to uphold collegial decision-making.
We enjoin the University community to support Dr. Grio and the rest of the SED as they work towards our strategic goals this new academic year.
The Center for Teaching and Learning invites all faculty members to take part in a two-day seminar-workshop titled “Emotionally Intelligent Teaching: Cultivating Connection, Care, and Growth in the UA&P Classroom.”
The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Celerino Tiongco, UA&P Emeritus Associate Professor, whose wealth of experience and deep understanding of emotionally intelligent pedagogy will guide participants through insightful discussions and practical applications.
Scheduled for August 6 and 8 (Wednesday & Friday) from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, the sessions will be held at the Executive Cafe Meeting Rooms.
